The Vicar of Wrexhill reminded me why I don't read more of the Victorian "domestic" genre. All the Mowbrays are so pure and proper it's annoying, and as of about 1/3 of the way into the book, the vicar doesn't do anything more villainous thanbeing a stern Calvinist.
